I have not written a letter in 37 years but I have to do something or I will have a stroke. I bought my house in Levittown in 1990 and my total tax bill was $2,840. My taxes now total over $6,172. I have to earn about $8,500 which is what my taxes really are. I just read where Nassau County is raising taxes 15 percent and also that I am to vote for a tax increase for a bond for the schools. My home has no basement or garage. My home was robbed and my car was stolen from in front of my house. Would someone please explain to me why this is considered the American Dream or does everybody in this county pay $20 a week after tax money to have their garbage picked up in this county. I am outraged and saddened that I will not be able to retire here and be near my family.
