  • NEWS: Residents Celebrate Tree Lighting Ceremony

    Local residents, their families and friends gathered at Veterans Memorial Park on Monday to celebrate the Levittown Chamber of Commerce's Annual Holiday Lighting at an evening ceremony held at the park located just outside the Levittown Public Library. This year marked the first time the celebration was held at this location, as in years past the tree outside Green Point Bank on Hempstead Tpke. and Wantagh Ave. was the place for the occasion.   • NEWS: Levittown Community Holds Illuminated Walk

    Hundreds of local residents attended the illuminated walk on the evening of Nov. 27 to honor and remember those community members who lost their lives on Sept. 11 and to recognize the heroic efforts of uniformed services and citizens. The event was coordinated by the Levittown Board of Education and the School District as a whole, who said that since the devastating events of Sept. 11, the Levittown community has exhibited an exemplary spirit of caring and that too many families have suffered overwhelming pain and they feel their deep sense of loss.   • SPORTS: Island Trees Football Reaches the County Finals

    In the NFL, John Elway became the quarterback best known for "The Drive," a last minute march downfield to score the winning touchdown. The Island Trees Bulldogs have become the high school version of "The Drive." The last three games saw the Bulldogs orchestrate last minute drives to win or tie the game. The final season game saw the Dogs defeat East Rockaway with a 10-yard option, Gerard VanLeuvan to Paul Wigdzinski, a 1 -ard OB sneak by VanLeuvan to tie the score and the extra point kick by Herb Reyes for the win.   • SPORTS: Red Devils Champions

    It was the final game of the year. It was Super Bowl Sunday and you could feel the excitement in the air. Midget Red was on a quest and this was their day to attain it. Everyone was here to support them. Parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, coaches from other teams, friends and neighbors were all here to root Red on. It turned out to be a very exciting and tough game for Red. Red had to face Glen Cove a team that they had beaten earlier in the season 18-0, but this was the playoffs and the Cardinals of Glen Cove were ready. FULL STORY
