Close to 250 senior citizens who reside within the Levittown Fire District enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner last Friday, Nov. 16 at the Levittown Memorial Education Center. This was the 16th year that the Levittown Fire Department, Engine Co. 3, together with members of the Levittown School District coordinated the event.

The dinner, which has been organized by the Levittown Fire Department for several years, is held annually to thank and recognize local senior citizens for their contributions to the community. Department members, particularly Andy Booth, who has been one of the main organizers of the event for several years, agree that if it wasn't for local seniors, Levittown would not be here today.

One week prior to the event, fire department members drop off all of the food, including turkeys, potatoes, vegetables and more, at LMEC and students in the culinary arts program prepare everything. The school district, which has been participating in the event for the last decade, prepares everything fresh for the dinner.

The meal was served by members of the Ladies Auxiliary, Levittown Fire Department members and local students. Members of Girl Scout Troop 3278 also helped in distributing the meals to seniors.

Since the Fire Department has found in the past that seniors tried to pay for their meals, they are asked to bring a new toy to the event to aid in the department's Adopt-A-Family program. This year, the department collected dozens of toys for the program.

This year's dinner was surely, as in the past, a success and enjoyed by all who attended.
