The Levittown and East Meadow Chambers of Commerce, for the first time this year, collaboratively held a joint chamber networking party last Tuesday, Nov. 13 at LUXE in Levittown. In years past, the two neighboring chambers held individual parties. This was the third consecutive year the chambers have held a party.
The event included display tables for chamber members' promotional items and brochures, free raffles, a DJ and complimentary buffet dinner. In addition, as a courtesy to chamber members on behalf of LUXE, all patrons were charged just $2 for beverages.
"We thought that since so many of us cross the borders here that it would be a wonderful thing to put both chambers together this evening since the chamber of commerce is designed for you to prosper in your business," Levittown Chamber President Dr. Jaclyn Nogan said. She added that this was a good opportunity for both communities to get to know neighboring businesses and that this is something they would like to do again in the future.
East Meadow Chamber President James Skinner thanked the Levittown chamber for hosting the event, and said that he too hopes that the neighboring chambers hold such an event again in the future. Skinner also announced local elected officials who attended the event, including Assessor Charles O'Shea and Councilman Gary Hudes. Legislator Dennis Dunne was also on hand later in the evening. Skinner also thanked County Executive Thomas Gulotta for sending down a representative and for presenting the chambers with citations.
"Events like this are so important to the local community, especially neighboring communities like East Meadow and Levittown that have so many common interests and the local businesses have common concerns," Councilman Hudes said. "Events like this bring our local businesses together to share ideas so that they can give better service and better attention to all of the people who live in our community."
