The Island Trees Board of Education would like to extend its appreciation to all the members of our community who are assisting in the search and recovery mission at Ground Zero in New York City. New York City firefighters, police officers, and so many others continue to give so much to this valiant effort. Their dedication and commitment to our city and our nation serve as a meaningful example of heroism to the youngsters in our community.
In addition, we offer our loving thoughts and prayers to all of our local families who have lost a loved one, friend, or colleague in this horrible tragedy. Their pain and loss are devastating and unimaginable. We pray that they will find the courage and strength to face the difficult and painful days and months ahead. We hope they will be comforted knowing that their friends, neighbors, and community mourn their loss, offer support, and wish them peace.
Finally, a special thank you to our local firefighters, police officers, and rescue workers. You serve our community proudly all through the year. Your courage, determination, and tireless persistence exemplify true patriotism. The residents of Island Trees will long remember the sacrifices that you make on our behalf. Be assured that we will keep Chief Kerwin, his family, and all of our missing brothers and sisters in our thoughts and prayers.
We are a strong, proud, and resilient community. We are certain that God will continue to bless us and watch over us as we face the future.
