As part of its responsibility to provide adequate classroom space for all students in the Levittown School District, the Levittown Board of Education mailed surveys to all district residents requesting their opinions on several issues relative to program and space needs in the school district. This survey was undertaken at the suggestion of many residents and community groups in order to provide the board with more detailed information regarding what the community might be willing to support prior to the formalization of any sort of bond issue to meet the space needs.

Approximately 14,000 surveys were mailed to district residents during the last week of August. These surveys were returnable to the district clerk by Sept. 15. Approximately 2,405 surveys were returned. This response is a return rate of 17 percent, which is actually a high rate of return for this type of survey. The survey asked three questions and received the following results.

The board of education thanks community residents for responding to this survey. This information will be of valuable assistance to the board in making the best decision for the future of the Levittown schools and community. The board will be discussing both the survey and its options for providing necessary space at its Oct. 3 planning session.
