Dennis Dunne Wins Republican Primary
Nassau County Legislator Dennis Dunne, the incumbent for the 15th Legislative District, won the Republican primary against challenger Rich Ahrens on Sept. 25. Dunne, receiving 1,838 votes, defeated Ahrens, who took in 481 votes. Dunne also won the primary for the Independent Party of the district, receiving 21 votes while his opponent, David A. Lewis, received 19.

Levittown Schools Captial Construction Survey Complete
As part of its responsibility to provide adequate classroom space for all students in the Levittown School District, the Levittown Board of Education mailed surveys to all district residents requesting their opinions on several issues relative to program and space needs in the school district. This survey was undertaken at the suggestion of many residents and community groups in order to provide the board with more detailed information regarding what the community might be willing to support prior to the formalization of any sort of bond issue to meet the space needs.

South Shore Indians Capture Two Championships
The South Shore Indians 11-year-old baseball team completed their 2nd year of existence with an incredible run culminating in two tournament championships. The boys competed in the most difficult league available to them, the Federation Armature Baseball League, which is comprised of travel teams from all over Long Island. During regular season play, the boys tied for first place in the spring and took second in the summer session. Rather than defend their FABL title, the team opted to participate in the extremely challenging Nick Lamingello Tournament in Queens which pits some of the best teams from Long Island and Queens, and the annual Plainedge Tournament that many of the boys won as 8 year olds.
