I am writing to publicly acknowledge the important, sincere and outstanding efforts of the students of Division Avenue High School on behalf of the rescue workers at the World Trade Center site. The students staged a collection area on Hempstead Turnpike and worked tirelessly to collect needed items. When a car pulled up with water, flashlights or other necessary supplies, they walked up and greeted the donors with enthusiasm and courtesy. They carried heavy cartons and thanked everyone profusely for their contribution. It was a pleasure to see them working with their peers and their teachers for the benefit of their country. Their faces seem to say, "We are all in this together."

The days following this tragedy were full of tears and trepidation. Their selfless work provided Levittowners with a sense of hope and community. I thank them for giving us an opportunity to help. Great job kids!
