Summer has ended, everyone is back in school and football season has quickly come upon us. Midget Gray opens their season up in Bayville this coming weekend. For this Midget Gray team, it is their first game in the Midget (9 and 10 year olds) division. Last year this team won the 2000 Pee Wee (7 and 8 year old division) AFC East Championship by defeating North Babylon 6-0 in the championship game. Well, obviously this is a new season with new challenges ahead.
Midget Gray has nine returning players from last year's championship team. The returning players are basically considered 9 year olds. They are George Athan, Daniel Bartlett, Anthony Ciaramitaro, Joey Leonard, Timmy Michels, Chris Nickel, Bryan Peterson, Zack Trimboli and Bryan Verbitsky.
Gray added a couple of returning 10 year olds in Nick Barber, Justin Habermehl and Kyle Kriner. They also added new players in Rob Castillo, Kevin Donnelly, Peter Marchese, Joe Racanelli and Cory Stimach.
The coaching staff of Head Coach George Athan, and Coaches Troy Verbitsky, John Bartlett, Bob Nickel, Tony Ciaramitaro and Donald Leonard have remained intact.
The Levittown Red Devil Opening Day parade is Saturday, Sept. 8. Hope to see you all out there marching.
In closing we want to wish Midget Gray the best of luck on the upcoming season. We will be trying hard to keep up the "Gray" tradition.
