St. Bernard's Church Welcomes 'Father Jerry' Ringenback
St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church recently welcomed Father Gerard Ringenback, who hopes to be more affectionately known by his new congregation as "Father Jerry," as its new pastor. Although he realizes that the transition will take time, Father Ringenback looks forward to learning about the residents of the community as their pastor and, even more so, to being their parish priest.

Summer Construction in Island Trees Nears Completion
As the Sept. 5 first day of school approaches in Island Trees, summer construction projects in the district's schools are well underway and nearing completion. Superintendent of Schools Richard Segerdahl recently announced the many projects occurring at the schools, and is confident that they will be finished once school begins and provide various accommodations to the district and its students. Among the many projects being done this summer, classrooms are being built to accommodate the district's full day kindergarten program which will be offered for the first time this fall.

Island Trees Baseball 9-Year-Old All Stars
As the baseball season comes to a close, coaches of the Island Trees 9-year-old All Star team want to congratulate the boys on an excellent season. The team participated in three separate tournaments compiling an outstanding 9-4 record. Island Trees was tested from the onset as they played all teams with a previous history of winning. This team was formed in the middle of May and on top of playing their regular season schedule, they began All Star practices the last week of May.

Levittown/Island Trees Youth Council and Levittown PAL Fall Bowling Registration
The Levittown Police Athletic League's fall bowling session gets underway on Friday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at South Levittown Lanes. Children are invited to register for both programs at South Levittown Lanes anytime between now and the start dates. There is a $25 registration fee, which pays PAL insurance, YABA (Young American Bowling Alliance) Sanctioning, a PAL tee shirt, a Christmas and end of season party with gifts galore, participation awards for everyone and trophies for top place teams. The registration fee is reduced to $20 for a second child or more from the same family. There are limited openings in both programs so pre-registration is recommended. Programs are available for children from ages four and up.
