Usually at this time of year I write an editorial congratulating the graduating class and wishing them good luck in all their future endeavors. This year, in addition to those wishes for the graduates, I would also like to say goodbye to my readers, as my last day with the Levittown Tribune will be Wednesday, June 27.
Leaving this community is extremely difficult for me. When I first began, in December 1997, I barely knew where Levittown was located, now this community is where my heart is. I met some truly great people, who opened their arms to me, making my job as editor so much easier. I thought about naming some of the people who have made an impact on me in these last years, but I realized that there were too many to list. That is a true testament to the goodness of the people in this community. I have never met finer people, who have cared so much about their neighborhood and the happenings in it. I was truly blessed to be a part of Levittown these past few years.
I am also extremely grateful to have worked with so many fine people at Anton Community Newspapers. From my publisher, Angela Anton; to my general manager Cary Seaman who read each of my stories before they went to print; to my page designer Pat Eagleson, who always worked her hardest to make sure the paper looked the best it possibly could; to my fellow editors, who made coming to work each day more fun than I could have possibly imagined; I want to thank each of these people for making the last 3 1/2 years so memorable. I have made some very close friends here at Anton, not the least of whom is Marta Kane, who will be taking over the reins as editor of the Levittown Tribune.
Marta has been with Anton for just over a year now, having begun as my intern last summer. She did an excellent job in that capacity and proved herself even further, serving as editor of the Farmingdale Observer since the fall. I have absolute faith that Marta will do a fabulous job as editor, just as I have faith that this community will open your arms to her, just as you did for me.
Again, thank you for making my time as the editor of the Levittown Tribune so memorable.
