Mondello Sues Newsday for $60 Million
Nassau County Republican Party Chairman Joseph Mondello announced at a press conference on Tuesday that he is suing Newsday for $60 million, in a defamation of character suit based on the front page story of the June 15 Newsday.

On Monday, June 4, the Island Trees High School Athletic Banquet was held at the Imperial Manor. Cathy Sbarra and Danny Beale were the recipients of the Ted Petersen Scholarship. Pete Condela was the recipient of the Rita Benson Scholarship. Cathy Sbarra and Ryan Pastore were the recipients of the Parents for Athletes Scholarship. Cathy Sbarra and Mike Buonomo received the Armed Services Award. Michael Cavalcante was the recipient of the Island Trees Hockey Scholarship. Chris Mason, Tom Lombardi, Ryan Pastore, Joseph Cohen, Mike Cavalcante and Bryan Mercer were the recipients of the Island Trees Baseball League Scholarship. Melissa Santor, Michelle DiFede, Karyn Fitzpatrick, Caryn Kraus, Lisa Caffrey, Lauren Smath, Jon Sguigna, Kristina Ruff, Peter Condela and Timmy O'Shea were the recipients of the Island Trees Soccer Club Scholarship. Varsity Baseball Coach Nick Grande was chosen as the Doris Uhlig Coach of the Year by his peers. Cathy Sbarra and Danny Beale were voted Outstanding Athletes of the Year by the Island Trees coaching staff.
Wisdom Lane Athletics
After a tough first game loss, the Wisdom Wildcat baseball team got their act together winning their last nine games. Wins were against Woodland of East Meadow (8-0), (5-4), Wantagh (6-3), Berner of Massapequa (4-3), Howitt of Farmingdale (10-2) (13-1), Salk (7-1) (5-1) and Hicksville (8-5).
