Levittown Holds Final Budget Hearing Before Revote
Last Wednesday, two weeks before the scheduled budget revote, the Levittown Board of Education held a final budget hearing, allowing the public to voice their feelings about the proposed budget, which failed in the first vote on May 15.
Levittown Celebrates its Veterans With Festival and Parade
Veterans from the Levittown community were honored all Memorial Day Weekend, beginning on Friday with the opening ceremonies of the chamber of commerce's festival and continuing through the parade held on Monday.
Island Trees Sports
The Island Trees Bulldogs locked up the number 1 seed in the Nassau County B Playoffs with a 5-0 shutout of Locust Valley. The win gave Island Trees a league record of 16-1, and an overall record of 19-1. This is a tremendous accomplishment for this baseball program. The coaching staff is very proud of their players. Over the last 2 regular seasons, the varsity baseball team has compiled a 40-2 record. Congratulations are also in order for the JV Bulldogs, who finished their season at 18-2.
A Successful Season for St. Bernard's Novices
St. Bernard's girls 3rd grade novice division had a successful season this year. For most of the girls this was their first experience with basketball. The regular season was approximately 10 games. The coaches and the girls focused on individual skills, concepts of defense and some basic plays. By the time the playoffs started the game was in full force. Hofstra, coached by Tom Page, played Princeton, coached by Tom Grange, in the final game. Hofstra ended on top with excellent team play. Hofstra was lead by tournament MVP Christine Page with 11 points and Samantha Uvino with 8 points. Princeton was lead by Meghan Leap, Kelly Leap and Alexandra Grange with 6 points apiece.
