In the first game of the Garden City series, the Dragons won 7-1. P.J. Antoniato got the win, striking out 10 batters in five innings. Kevin Mulstay and Steve Juliano both added an inning of hitless relief. The Dragons scored two in the first on key hits by Steve Juliano, Eric Fierro, and Chris Castellano.
Big hitters for Division were Steve Juliano, Eric Fierro, Chris Castellano, Ray Montoro, Mike Hublitz, Keith Feldman, and Tom Messina.
In game two of the series, the Dragons defeated the Trojans 7-0, as pitcher Josh Flinn hurled a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts, defeating Garden City's highly-regarded John Burke.
Division banged out 14 hits against the Garden City ace, who last year won both games of the County Championship, as well as winning the Long Island Championship game and state semi-final game. Eric Fierro had three hits, while Jeff Tamarez and Mike Hublitz each had two hits. Sophomore Ray Montoro had three RBIs, including a two-run homer. P.J. Antoniato, Steve Juliano, and Keith Feldman also chipped in with RBI hits.
Division earned the sweep of the series with a 17-3 victory with Dan Weingart earning the win. Division pounded out 20 hits with P.J. Antoniato, Steve Juliano, Kevin Darcey, Ray Montoro, and Shawn Sewitch all having two hits.
Next week the Dragons play a very talented MacArthur team.
