Why can't we look to grandparents/seniors who are full of wisdom and knowledge to volunteer in our schools as mentors, hall monitors, etc.

These people who live right in our community, and have for the last 40-50 year,s are volunteering in our hospitals, our supermarkets. Why not our schools? I am sure that many have put their kids through those very same schools and would welcome the opportunity to make a difference in a child's life. Children need someone to talk to and feel comfortable with and that someone could be one of our wonderful seniors.
