Levittown School District Adopts 2001-2002 Budget
At their April 17 special meeting, the Levittown Board of Education adopted a budget of $119,586,057, with an associated tax levy of $82.47, which will be voted on by district residents on May 15.

Golden Age Housing Proposal Receives Positive Response
Residents of the Levittown community had a very supportive response at the Town of Hempstead Public Hearing to consider the rezoning of a Levittown property from a "Business District" to "Golden Age Residence District," which was held this past Tuesday. While a few residents had some safety concerns, the overall reaction of the more than one dozen speakers was positive, with many saying that this was exactly what the community needed.

Lady Bulldogs Softball
Prior to Spring Recess, the Island Trees Lady Bulldogs had a 4-0 record, of which they were quite proud. Just before the recess began, the girls faced a very tough Glen Cove team, where they had their first taste of defeat. Sloppy defense and bad base-running cost them the game. Chrissy DeMott pitched well, striking out eight and only giving up five hits. She also went two for four and a walk at the plate. Jamie Zetterberg also got her first start in the field at second base and did a fine job handling seven of the eight balls hit to her. The final score was Glen Cove 5, Island Trees 4.

In the first game of the Garden City series, the Dragons won 7-1. P.J. Antoniato got the win, striking out 10 batters in five innings. Kevin Mulstay and Steve Juliano both added an inning of hitless relief. The Dragons scored two in the first on key hits by Steve Juliano, Eric Fierro, and Chris Castellano.
