Lisa Vanderburg Honored as 'Trailblazer'
Each March, in recognition of Women's History Month, every Nassau County Legislator selects a woman in his or her community who they feel is a "Trailblazer to the New Millennium." This year, Dennis Dunne, who represents the 19th Legislative District, has selected Lisa Vanderburg, a North Wantagh resident who is very active in the Levittown community, as the recipient of that honor.

Levittown Cited as 'High Performing District'
Over the last several weeks, Dr. Herman Sirois, superintendent of schools for Levittown, has presented banners to each of the six elementary schools in the district, in recognition of Levittown being named a "High Performing District," based on the fourth grade state test results.

Island Trees Varsity Basketball Preview
The Island Trees Varsity Baseball team is coming off a highly successful 2000 season and the Bulldogs are looking forward to an even bigger year in 2001. Island Trees enters the season as the defending BVI champions, after posting an amazing 20-1 record. The team reached the Nassau County semifinals last season, before being ousted by eventual State Champion Garden City. The Bulldogs are returning 11 seniors from last season's varsity squad. These seniors will be asked to anchor a very talented and playoff tested team.
