In their final game of the season, the 7th grade Lady Bulldogs won an intense and action-filled game against Bethpage. Lauren Mason played her best game of the season. Mason did an outstanding job running the point and controlling the pace of the game. Mason's shot was on fire and she totaled 10 points for the team. From below the board, Kate Tolan and Sarah Hess did a terrific job pulling down rebounds. Tolan had four points, Hess totaled three. Jen Reno did a terrific job assisting the point and moving the ball, Jen scored three points. Also playing well at point was Jen Macaro who broke through the defense of Bethpage to find the open girl many times, Macaro had two points. Samantha Modik and Allison Amador also added a basket each. Dominique Witteck and Colleen Cunningham both did a tremendous job guarding Bethpage's fiercest offensive player. Elyse Aquirre, Maggie Pepitone and Leanna Andreu played well from under the board and grabbed many key rebounds. Kimberly Linneman, Meghan Sguigna, Michelle Topel, Liz Badolato, Stephanie Irving, Jessica Liguori and Melissa Donnelly all did an outstanding job from the top of the key. The Island Trees 8th grade Lady Bulldogs concluded one of the most memorable seasons against an undefeated Seaford team. The Vikes had given the Dawgs their worst beating of the year a week earlier, a 29-point defeat. The team worked very hard this year and was a very proud group. They hung with Seaford throughout and even after falling behind by 11 in the 4th they would not give up. Sparked by the spirited play of Gina Brewer (10 points), Kate Beale (11 points), Colleen Fenton (3 points), Jessica Ostrowski (4 points), Megan Carlson and Grace Vinberg (4 points each), the Lady Bulldogs staged an incredible comeback. Trailing by one with 3 seconds left, the Bulldogs fouled and put the Vikings on the line for two. Missing both, the Dawgs grabbed the rebound and called time. As the last shot rimed out for the Dawgs at the horn, the loss seemed irrelevant because of the fight that they had put up right till the final horn. Also scoring were Joanna Shek, Nathaly Estrada, Nicole Carrazana, Hillary Sciacca and Jackie Augner. The girls finished the season with a 6-5 record with three games being decided by 3 points or less. Outstanding team play by Korin Jordan, Lori Brennan, Annalisa DiDomenico, Samantha Burger, Amanda Caccapollo, Jennifer Greene, Gina Dziuba, Amanda Cataldo and Lauren O'Shea helped to keep this team in every game.
