This year, there are six Division Avenue High School Baseball alumni who are in college on baseball scholarship money.

James Bailin and Bryan Rose are both pitching at Adelphi University and have just returned from a very successful trip to Florida where Bailin earned two wins, while Rose added a save.

Ryan Darcy, who is a sophomore at Manhattan College, just won his first start of the year with 10 strikeouts.

Two juniors, Chris Flinn, a student at SUNY Stony Brook and Mike Pelcher who is hurling for Delaware after helping to pitch Briarcliffe Junior College to the Junior College World Series in Colorado for the last two seasons, are expected to have banner seasons this year. Pelcher is a teammate of MacArthur's Rich McGuire who has been a standout pitcher for the Delaware Blue Hens and is also a scholarship player.

Danny Cronin has made the travel squad as an outfielder at Big East Power St. John's. This is quite an accomplishment for a freshman.

These six players total $51,000 in scholarship money for this year alone. This gives Division Baseball alumni the unbelievable number of $768,000 in baseball scholarship money since the 1990 baseball season. This figure only includes scholarship dollars and does not include financial aid or work study money or college grants.

To go along with this, the Division Baseball Alumni have earned over $200,000 in academic scholarships putting them close to a $1 million in scholarship money since the 1990 baseball season.

Another Division alumni, Shawn Fagan is presently in Florida at the Toronto Blue Jays Spring Training Camp, after leading his Penn State team to the Super Regionals in Texas vs. the Texas Long Horns last season. Chris Flinn, who was previously mentioned as a current Stony Brook pitcher is currently being touted as a potential draft pick for the spring draft of 2001. Flinn owns the season and career strikeout records at Stony Brook, despite only having pitched two seasons for the SeaWolves. This is very impressive when you consider that Joe Arnold of Stony Brook is currently the number five starter for the Major League San Francisco Giants.
