DEC Proposes Remedial Action Plan for American Drive-In Cleaners
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation held a public information and comment meeting at Island Trees High School on Tuesday night to discuss their proposed remedial action plan the Class 2 hazardous waste site, stemming from American Drive-In Cleaners on Hempstead Turnpike.

Philanthropic Lady Dragons
This season the girls varsity and junior varsity basketball teams at Division Avenue High School ran a free-throw shooting fund raiser for the basketball program and to raise money for cancer care. The Lady Dragons were so successful with this fund raiser that they were able to donate $1,000 to Mercy Hospice in Uniondale. Mercy Hospice helps with the care of terminally ill patients.

Island Trees Sports
The Island Trees Lady Dawgs Basketball team finished out one of their best seasons yet, with a tough loss to top-seeded Garden City in the county finals, by a score of 35-30. This team clearly showed how high school basketball should be played, by sticking together and fighting through any obstacle to accomplish their goals. The girls enjoyed playing and they all did their best to do their job and help the team. Overall, they definitely proved that they could do anything they set their minds to. The girls finished with an overall record of 20-2, an extremely hard task to master. The girls not only got the satisfaction and respect that they earned from playing, but they made many friendships along the way.
