This week we printed a letter that someone sent to the Levittown Fire Department, expressing thanks for the job that they do and it seemed important to bring extra attention to that letter, because many people tend to forget the sacrifices that firefighters make and the risks that they take.

Anytime there is an article in the Levittown Tribune about the fire department and the good works they have done, members of the department have gone out of their way to thank us for the coverage but it is the residents who should be thanking the Levittown Fire Department for the coverage they give the community. Without the members of this volunteer organization, the lives and safety of the community would be at risk.

It is important to note that fire department members, Levittown and other surrounding departments, are volunteers. They willingly risk their lives and their own safety to protect those around them for no payment, other than the good feeling they get from helping others.

So thank you, firefighters, for all that you do for us. It is a sentiment that is not expressed nearly often enough and it is a great privilege to have the opportunity to highlight all the good that you do.
