Island Trees Enters FIRST Robotics Competition
For the last several years Island Trees High School has been working on expanding their science program and has taken it one step further by adding robotics to the curriculum, which will be demonstrated on March 9-10 when the students participate in a competition For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST).

Castro Named as Long Island Track and Field Athlete of the Year
The 2nd annual Awards Dinner of Long Island Track and Field was held at the KeySpan Energy headquarters banquet facility in Hicksville on Thursday evening, Feb. 8 and one of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Long Distance Running "Athlete of the Year" Award to Carlos Castro, Jr. of Levittown.

Island Trees Sports
The Island Trees wrestling team finished fifth at the Nassau County Qualifying Tournament. The Bulldogs placed nine wrestlers. Place winners were Mike Williams, Kevin McGovern and Matt Lorenzini, who placed sixth, James Scrimo lost a tough semi-final match and took fifth place. In fourth place were James Lyons and Chris Lorenzini. Julio Barea took third place as well as Matt Anderson. The two finalists were Anthony Casale and eighth grader Mike Cama, who both finished in second place. The wrestlers will represent Island Trees in the Nassau County Championships at Nassau Community College.
