Recently you published an article on Salk Middle School "Project Warmth". My son, Joseph Vaughan Quiros, participated in the project and found it a very rewarding community experience.

This project could not have been completed without the help of Jim Dandy Dry Cleaners, located on Wantagh Ave in Wantagh. Sarah Judge assisted in the project by calling area dry cleaners and asking for help in cleaning the coats that were collected. After being turned down by several places, she was greeted with a resounding "of course" and told to bring over all of the coats, and furthermore, Jim Dandy donated the cleaning services. What a great way to teach our children about giving to the community!

Some people may wonder where the coats were donated. They were divided between The Retreat, a shelter that helps victims of domestic abuse, and the Nassau County Shelter for Families in Need in Hempstead. In total the Salk Project Warmth collected over 350 coats, and Ms. Singer, Mr. Caulfield and Ms. Lamarca have good reason to be proud of all of the students who made this project so successful.
