The Levittown Kiwanis, Community Council and Chamber of Commerce lit into the holiday season this past week with two holiday lighting ceremonies.
The first lighting took place on Saturday, when the Levittown Community Council and Kiwanis joined together for a tree and menorah lighting at HSBC Bank on Hempstead Turnpike. Though the tree was small spirits were high as members of the two organizations worked together to put up the lights.
The second tree lighting, sponsored by the Levittown Chamber of Commerce, took place on Monday at Green Point Bank, on the corner of Wantagh Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike, and featured various performers from around the community, who entertained the crowd with the help of DJ Louie, from POP Entertainment. This event was coordinated by Chamber of Commerce board members Steve Haller and Louise Cassano, along with Chamber President Dr. Jacklyn Nogan.
Performances at the Chamber tree lighting included songs from the St. Bernard's Youth Group, dance numbers by students at Nancy's Dance Factory, and instrumental music provided by Northside Elementary School band members. Santa even made a special appearance, arriving on a Levittown Fire Truck, to the delight of the many children who were in attendance.
