Todd Dixon, senior bowler and golfer is this week's choice for the MacArthur HS Athletic Spotlight. Dixon is an outstanding athlete who has made a name for himself in the less recognized sports such as golf and bowling but his success in these two sports cannot go unrecognized because of his unparalleled accomplishments over the last three years.

Dixon has been a member of the two teams since his freshman year and is the only golfer to letter in this sport for all four years of his high school career and as a junior, Dixon was ranked the number one-bowler on the team. Naturally, first year coach Jerry Martinelli will be relying heavily on Dixon this season for his leadership and ability to hopefully lead the Generals to the County Playoffs and likewise for golf coach Fred Bruno.

As for his own personal goals, Dixon will be working towards being named to the All County teams in both golf and bowling which would be a first for a MacArthur athlete competing in these two sports. Dixon has high hopes both for the bowling and golf teams this year and he would like nothing more than to play a major role in helping both teams reach the County Playoffs and if they do, you can be sure that Dixon will be a major reason why.

Outside of athletics, Dixon keeps himself busy by playing the tuba in the band; he is the lead tuba player in the marching band and is talented enough to write his own music which he did for the Jazz Band and had to put in the octave necessary to have his instrument included in the Jazz Band.

Dedicated and talented are words that can easily be used to describe this special athlete and student, modest and unassuming are two others that fit his description very nicely. Dixon just goes about his business, doesn't look for any recognition and just does what he likes to do and does it very well.

Academics are included of course, as Dixon is a member of the National Honor society; he is a member of the prestigious Key Club; he competed in the Science Olympiad and is a member of the Model Congress. Along with all this, Dixon has a 95.7 average and ranks #60 in a class of 275. He scored 1140 on his SATs and with a background like this he is well on his way to having one of the best high school careers that one can imagine. His career is certainly one that he should be very proud of.

MacArthur High School wishes Dixon luck in his quest to make those All County teams in bowling and golf, and in his future.
