The Rossi brothers slammed the door on the Vikings of North Shore at Island Trees' Homecoming football game. Greg scored four times, while little brother Mike banged in 1. The Dogs won 42-8. Gerard VanLeuvan connected with Norberto Cabarcas for a 27 yard TD to close out the scoring. Ryan Pastore and Mike Buonomo lead the defense with 8 tackles each.

The JV football team traveled to the home of the Jericho Jayhawks. The Bulldogs opened up the scoring with a 38 yard screen pass from QB Paul Wigdzinski to FB Matt Fiorello. Anthony DiDomenico nailed the PAT. The Bulldog "D" forced the Jayhawks to go three and out. The Dawgs found paydirt again, this time it was Paul Wigdzinski, on a four-yard boot. The point after was blocked and the score was 13-0 after just six minutes of play. The Dawgs stopped the Jayhawks again and they found the end zone again. Matt Fiorello powered his way off tackle and into the end zone. The Dawgs went for two; Wigdzinski pitched left to Pete Plaia for the score. Anthony Daratany made a key block on the conversion. It was now 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Jericho opened up the second quarter with a long run and eventual touchdown. The "D" stopped the PAT and the score was 21-6. Jericho's defense held the Dawgs "O" in check for most of the third quarter. That was until Pete Plaia ran one in off tackle to give the Dawgs a little breathing room. The final score was 27-12.

The Island Trees Girls Varsity soccer team has continued to display a fighting spirit on the field. In league play, the team battled with Lawrence to a 1-1 draw. Melissa Santor scored the equalizing goal to force the game into overtime. The Lady Bulldogs played with intensity and created numerous opportunities, while goalkeeper Kristina Ruff shut down the Lawrence offense. The team also held their own against tough Conference 2 team Cold Spring Harbor. The Lady Dawgs then beat Floral Park in an overwhelming 4-0 win. Janine Sciaretta (homecoming queen) showed she was a queen on the field too, when she put the first goal in the net for the Lady Bulldogs with her head. Karyn Fitzpatrick contributed two more fantastic goals and Elena O'Brien drilled the fourth goal home for the team. Kristina Ruff played an excellent game to clinch the shutout.

The Island Trees Boys Varsity soccer team is busy getting ready for the playoffs. The Bulldogs have secured the 4th seed in the county tournament. They will play on Saturday, Oct. 28 vs. the third place finisher from the BIII league. Sixteen teams make the playoffs for a two week county tournament to decide the county champions. The Bulldogs will be led in the playoffs with Peter Kostaras in goal, Pete Condela, Matt Ostrowski and A.J. Latuputty on defense, Rob Silva, Dan Beale, Steve D'Ambrosio and Julio Barea holding down the midfield and Jonathan Sguigna and Joe Swicicki playing forward. The Bulldogs have a good chance to go far into the playoffs this year. Good luck to the Island Trees Boys Varsity soccer team.

The Island Trees Middle School football team traveled to Locust Valley to take on the Falcons in what pitted the two top seeds in Conference I football. The Bulldogs had this one circled on the schedule as they looked to avenge a loss on the same field two years ago that prevented the Dawgs from a perfect season. The Bulldogs took the opening possession six plays and scored on a Vincent Ciaravino 40-yard touchdown run to take the early 7-0 lead. The Falcons touched the ball a mere four times in the first quarter, as the defense was magnificent. Evan Mastro capped the second Bulldog drive with a 7-yard TD run and extra point and the lead grew to 14-0. Chris Pazmino would add a touchdown in the third quarter and Vince Ciaravino would close out the scoring with a one yard plunge into the end zone to help Island Trees cruise to a 26-0 victory. Vincent Ciaravino would run for 167 yards on the day to lead all rushers. The Dawg defense played their most impressive game of the year as they limited the high powered Locust Valley offense to 5 first downs and 75 total yards on the day. Joe Ciaravino lead all tacklers with 12 as he covered the line of scrimmage like a blanket. Having career days on defense were Santiago Agudelo, Vincent Kelty, Bernard Loiseau, Michael Wrightington with a fumble recovery, James Habermehl, Ryan Hollett, John Conigliaro, Michael Bristoll, Evan Mastro with a huge quarterback sack, Anthony Santonocito and Kevin Yank. The victory runs the Bulldog record to 3-0 as they head into a showdown with the Mineola Mustangs. The boys played like true champions.

The White football team played Clarke Middle School in a game that wasn't decided until the last play of the game. Michael Shearer led all rushers with a total of 90 yards and a touchdown in only a half of football. Daniel Thompson added the extra point as he bulled his way into the end zone carrying three defenders. Defensive giants were Joe Dias, William Lewis, Terrance Marciano and Joe Cusker. The defense held the high powered Clarke attack at bay all day. Terrific outing boys. Keep up the intensity.

As we come to the end of the season, the Boys' White 7th grade soccer team is demonstrating the meaning of teamwork. The team is constantly improving their game and having fun. Ken Garger and Tom Santamauro played great defense, stopping wisdom in their tracks. Robby Howells, Nick Runge and Wally Ludewig also played great defense. The hustling halfbacks were running circles around wisdom. Those halfbacks were Will Busch, Rob Vilbig, Frank Miscioscia and Mike Murphy. Brian Balvin, Kyle Ray and Giovanni Oliveri played a stellar game at offense, showing off their skills by moving the ball down field. Tom Santamauro, Ken Garger and Wally Ludewig also played some offense and did a great job. Matt Wierzbicki had a great game in net with nine saves. Goals were scored by Brian Balvin with a hat trick, Giovanni Oliveri with two, Kyle Ray with one and Will Busch with one. Assists were made by Ken Garger with two, Mike Murphy with two, Will Busch with one, Frank Miscioscia with one and Kyle Ray with one. Final score Bulldogs 7, Wildcats 2.

The Girls Red 8th grade soccer team remained undefeated by beating Plainview. The victory was the girls 6th in a row. Samantha Burger scored two goals while Gina Brewer, Korin Jordan, Kelly Murphy, Kate Beale, Jackie Augner and Lindsay Hallas each scored once. Amanda Rossi, Lauren O'Shea and Donna Braun each had an assist. Goalies Jessica Ostrowski and Maria D'Agostino combined to record their fourth shutout of the season.

Congratulations to the Girls White 7th grade soccer team on their 4-1 victory over Grand Ave. Goals were scored by Meghan Sguigna, Pauline Oreliana, Sabrina Cervasio and Jen Reno. Meghan also had two assists, Pauline came through with one and Michelle Topel also stepped up with one assist. Outstanding offensive performances were displayed by Jen Macaro, Nikki Gweta, Alyssa Spitaletta, Kathy Oleksiej, Katrina Christoffersen, Tina Bove and Janese Schepmoes. The girls were strong defensively and really played like a team.
