Dr. Jacklyn Nogan, a Levittown chiropractor was selected by the Levittown Chamber of Commerce's officers and board of directors as the Small Businessperson of the Year. She, and the honorees from each of the chambers in the county, were honored by the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce at an awards ceremony last Friday morning.

The honorees are selected by their own chamber of commerce and must be the owner or manager of a business located in the community and must have made a meaningful and important contribution to the local economy, to the advancement of the chamber, and must have made a meaningful and important contribution to the general welfare of the local community. These guidelines have been set by the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce.

Nogan has served as the president of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce for the past two years. In addition to her duties with the chamber she is the vice president of Yours Ours Mine Community Center, is the secretary of the Levittown Library Board, is the second vice president of the Levittown Public School's Dollars for Scholars Program, is a member of the Levittown Kiwanis Club, is an honorary member of the Levittown Historical Society and is a charter member of the Levittown Community Council. She was also a sponsor and chairperson for the Levittown 50th Anniversary Committee. For the past six years Nogan has sponsored a Children's Holiday Party at the YOM Community Center.

This is not the first honor recognizing Nogan's contributions to the local community. This spring she received Nassau County's Trailblazer to the New Millennium for the 15th Legislative District and prior to that she received a Citation of Dedication to Levittown and the practice of Chiropractic Medicine from the Nassau County Legislature. She has also received a Meritorious Community Service Award from the Levittown Historical Society.

Prior to serving as president of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce, Nogan served on the chamber's board of directors. During her tenure as president, Dr. Nogan has expanded the chamber's annual festival and has added a car show, bowl-a-thon, and members' picnic to the list of chamber activities. In addition, under Nogan's leadership, the chamber launched its own website to let the community know what is happening with the chamber. It has been widely recognized that Nogan is a vital part of the chamber of commerce and the Levittown community at large.
