Soccer

The boys' JV soccer team lost a tough game to Cold Spring Harbor. Giuseppe Agostino scored for the Bulldogs. Paul Caffrey and Charlie Truelson had an outstanding game. The team also lost to Hicksville 3-0. Mike Garger, Rob Bischoff and Brian Chase were the Bulldogs' stars of the game.

The girls JV soccer team lost two hard fought decisions. In the first game, the Lady Bulldogs lost 2-0 to Lawrence. After going down 2-0 in the first half, the Lady Bulldogs spent the entire second half in Lawrence'a end of the field failing to score on numerous chances. The team was led by Melanie Hallas, who played a strong game at midfield, as well as Lisa Provenzano and Teresa Grassi. In the second game, the Bulldogs lost a 3-1 decision to Plainedge. Plainedge opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes. After a penalty kick gave Plainedge a 2-0 lead, the Bulldogs climbed back, dominating the second half. The lead was cut to 2-1 when Jackie Mullervy beat the goaltender from 20 yards out. The Bulldogs kept the pressure up, but in the end, the game was a 3-1 loss. The team played its best game of the year and strong efforts were made by all. Freshmen Stephanie Farag and Shannon McAdam recorded strong games as well as defenseman Jessica Galella, who made only her second start at that position. The Bulldogs next home game will be against Wantagh. Come out and support the team.

Volleyball

So far, so good for the Island Trees JV volleyball team. The team remains undefeated with a record of 4-0. Their past competitors included the districts of Carle Place, North Shore, East Rockaway and Locust Valley. The JV players have been giving the team their all since late August. The hard-working girls consist of Kim Brennan, Erin Carroll, Becky Santoriello (who are the team's three captains), Lindsay Burleson, Lauren Sauer, Corina Estrada, Meghan Marglin, Alex Heisig, Michelle Llorente, Kristen O'Halloren, Romina Chacon and Kassandra Knight. Last, but not least, Coach Dani Podolsky, the backbone of the team. The JV players wouldn't be half as good without her leadership. The team is looking forward to a great season.

Soccer

The boys 7th grade White soccer team won their game against Salk. Goals were scored by Frank Miscioscia, Giovanni Oliveri, Tom Santamauro and Mike Murphy. Great defense was played by Kyle Ray, Wally Ludewig, Nick Runge, Rob Howells and Will Busch. Ken Garger, Brian Balvin and Rob Vilbig had a great offensive game. Matt Wierzbicki played a stellar game in net with nine saves. The team played their hearts out in their next game. Ken Garger, Giovanni Oliveri, Mike Murphy, Brian Balvin, Frank Miscioscia and Tom Santamauro ran circles around Packard. Kyle Ray had a great game at stopper and played awesome in net. Rob Howells, Nick Runge, Wally Ludewig, Rob Vilbig and Will Busch played great defense. Matt Wierzbicki played great in net with six saves and played a stellar game on offense. Great games fellas.

Congratulations to the boys 8th grade Red soccer team on their win against Seaford. Awesome goals were scored by Mike Topel, Bobby Zetterberg with 2, Brian Spiess with 2, Adam Chase with 1 and Christian Salvage won the battle with the crossbar with 1. Great defensive plays by T.J. Fabis, Dennis Rochon, Sean Thomson, Rob Lovaglio, and in net, Brian Marksteiner. Keep it up Bulldogs.

The girls 7th grade White soccer team met up with some tough opponents this opening week. "The girls played their hearts out", said coach Dana Friemann. "I think their nerves got the best of them, but now we're ready to go." With Tuesday's heavy rain, the Bulldogs' season opener was postponed until Wednesday. The team is stacked with talent both offensively and defensively. "I have girls who have never played the game before, but are truly phenomenal athletes," said Miss Friemann. "I'm truly looking forward to seeing what we can do with that athleticism in the coming weeks." The girls' next game is at home against Wantagh. "A job well done," goes out to the girls 7th grade White soccer team. The girls played an incredible defensive game against Merrick Avenue. At their best were Elizabeth Badolato, Katrina Christoffersen, Jess Liguori, Dina Vecchione, Jessica Paige, Michelle Topel, Jillian Rossi and Keri Dodge. All of the girls played their hearts out. Get 'em next time girls!
