The Island Trees Girls' Varsity Soccer team began its season last week. The Lady Bulldogs, who were County Semi-Finalists last year, played two games. The season opener against Bethpage resulted in a 4-2 win. Goalie Kristina Ruff, along with the defense led by Michelle DiFede, Jen D'Albenzio and Janine Sciaretta, held the Bethpage team scoreless until late in the second half. Scoreres were Chelsea Marciano (2 goals), Melissa Santor and Kerianne Spiess. In the second game the Lady Dawgs lost a tough game to East Meadow, who is favored to win the conference. At half time the score was 0-0. The defense held the East Meadow attack and Kristina Ruff made several excellent saves. However, East Meadow got two goals in the second half to prevail. The Island Trees Girls' J.V. Volleyball team defeated the East Rockaway Rocks, winning the first three games. Leading the Lady Bulldogs are captains Erin Carroll, Kim Brennan and Rebecca Santoriello. The girls played an outstanding game both offensively and defensively. This was the girl's first game of the season. Come out and watch the girls volleyball play in action. Good Luck to Kim Brennan, Erin Carroll, Rebecca Santoriello, Lauren Sauer, Corina Estrada, Romina Chacon, Kassandra Knight, Alexandra Heisig, Meagan Marglin and Michelle Llorente for the rest of the season. Also a special thanks to the team managers Patty Eleazer and Kim Kapica.

The Island Trees Boys Varsity Soccer team has opened the 2000 season with some explosive wins. The Bulldogs beat North Shore 7-2, Hewlett 4-0 and Valley Stream South 4-3. This years' captains are Jonathan Sguigna, Dan Beale, Rob Silva and Peter Condela. All four players have been contributing to the teams' success. Jonathan Sguigna has 8 goals and 3 assists. Rob Silva has 4 goals and 1 assist. Dan Beale has a goal and an assist and Peter Condela has 1 assist. Upcoming games are against Wheatley, Cold Spring Harbor and Hicksville.

The Island Trees Boys' JV Soccer team opened up its league schedule on Sept. 13 against Hewlett. Although the team lost 5-3, the Bulldogs played very well. Brian Chase scored two goals, while Mike Garger had one. Lou Groner, Rob Bischoff and Peter McAllister player outstanding. The second league game came against Valley Stream South on Sept. 15. The Bulldogs played a tremendous game and came away with a tie. Matt Lorenzini scored the goal and his brother Chris made some key saves to keep the score tied. T.J. Young and Rob Bischoff led the defense. The teams record is currently 0-1-1.
