The 10-year-old South Shore Indians completed their inaugural season by capturing the FABL championship in stunning fashion by upsetting the previously unbeaten Pirates 17-14 with an awesome display of power. The Indians struggled early in the season as they competed in the most competitive league on Long Island against some of the most talented 10-year-olds. The team seemed to finally gel as they closed out the season winning 12 of their last 15 games. The Federation Amateur Baseball League Tournament was conducted at two sites. They boys swept their way to the final by winning the Nassau County round robin format at Rath Park in Franklin Square, posting a perfect 5-0 record. In doing so, the Indians averaged 15 runs per game as the boys pounded the horsehide and circled the bases. During the regular season, the Indians lost to the Pirates (a travel team of players recruited from all over Long Island) five times. Nobody gave the boys much of a chance as the Pirates also swept their way to the final winning five games and the Suffolk County Division.

The Indians jumped on top quickly as leadoff hitter Johnny Dick walked and scored on Vincent Sanquini's first of three hits on the day. Johnny Dick ignited most innings as he led the team with 44 walks in the 51 games played. Michael Anarumo, the sleek fielding 1st basemen had three hits and three runs scored. Eric Gonzalez hit two towering home runs over the 210-foot fence. The second broke up a 7-7 tie as Eric finished with five RBIs. Jonathan Rakitzis, whose bat came alive late in the season, hit a mammoth shot over the left field fence landing 230 feet away and breaking the Pirates back. Tyler Savin and Sean Nolin both went 3 for 4 as the team pounded out 17 hits and 17 runs against the number one seeded Pirates. The team seemed to have rallied around field General Paul Manganiello who took over the catching duties late in the season when the team made their run. Manganiello was a constant menance on the base paths as he led the team in steals. The defensive play of the game was a gem turned in by Tyler Hunter at shortstop as he glided to his left and speared a smash destined for the gap and threw the runner out at first to silence the Pirates in the sixth. With the pitching staff having very limited innings left as per tournament rules, all six pitchers saw action. Michael Anarumo pitched a perfect 1st, as did Sean Nolin in the 2nd. Eric Gonzalez and Tyler Hunter threw the 3rd and 4th innings. Vincent Sanquini came into the game in the 4th and shut down a Pirate rally. He would go on to pitch into the 6th and pick up the win. Tyler Savin came in to register his third save of the tournament by getting the final two outs as the numbers two and three hitters flied out to left and center field. As the ball nestled into Sanquini's glove the team piled on in celebration. The team was coached by Vincent Sanquini, Gary Savin, John Anarumo, Nick Rakitzis and Hector Gonzalez.
