Mosquitoes Infected With West Nile Virus Found in Nassau
The State Health Department this week confirmed the first evidence this summer of mosquitoes infected with the West Nile Virus (WNV) within the county, in Massapequa and Farmingdale, and as of press time Wednesday, Nassau County officials had planned to conduct pesticide spraying by truck in residential neighborhoods.

Levittown Resident Pitches His Team to Victory in Cooperstown Tournament
The Long Island Baymen, one of the top travel teams on Long Island, did something the week of July 15 that no other team from the Northeast has been able to do, they won the Cooperstown Baseball World Tournament in Cooperstown, NY. Cooperstown Baseball World is owned by Eddie Einhorn, owner of Chicago White Sox and draws top 12 and under teams from the USA.

Island Trees 9-year-olds are Metro State Champs
Nick Sguigna, president of the Island Trees Little League/ Island Trees Baseball League, is pleased to announce that this year's 9-year-old All Star team was able to accomplish what no other Island Trees baseball team was ever able to achieve- winning the Metro State Championship.
