In response to the new state education assessments, the Levittown School District, this year established a Summer Reading and Math Tutorial, giving students in grades 4-6 an opportunity to work on these skills during the month of July in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Long Island Baseball Wins Gold in Empire State Games
This year the Long Island Baseball team won the Gold medal in the Empire State Tournament that was held at Binghamton University. To add to the excitement, the team got to play at the beautiful Mets Stadium (where the Mets Double A team plays).

Charles O'Shea Awards Given to Top Scholar Athletes
At the St. Bernard's Travel Awards ceremony, it has been traditional to recognize the top eighth grade boys and girls scholar athlete. This award was created by Charles O'Shea to honor one boy and girl from the eighth grade for outstanding performance in the classroom as well as on the basketball court. This year's recipients were Toni Marie Caserta for the girls and Jimmy Davis for the boys. Congratulations to both Toni Marie and Jimmy for their outstanding effort and results.
