Some Funding Restored for YOM, Still Not Enough
Upon the announcement that the Democratic majority unveiled a plan to restore $3.5 million to youth board programs over the next two years, Yours Ours Mine Community Center in Levittown began to consider which of the programs, cut when the county slashed their funding by $172,437, could be restored.

Tensions High at Meeting About Gardiner's Ave. Bus Driveway
Despite the meeting being held at 10 a.m. on a weekday, when most people would have to be at work, approximately 40 people were on hand last Thursday to discuss the Levittown School District's proposal for the construction of a new bus driveway that would come within inches of several neighbors' properties.

Levittowner Named Top Scholar Athlete at Saint Rose
The College of Saint Rose honored a pair of senior basketball players as its outstanding scholar-athletes during the school's annual All-Sports Ceremony. The scholar-athlete awards are presented annually to the top male and female student-athletes who have epitomized the ideals of leadership, academic achievement and athletic excellence.

Lacrosse and Volleyball Sport Camps Are a Big Hit at I.T.
During the week of July 24 the Island Trees School District offered a Lacrosse Camp for boys and Volleyball Camp for girls. Boys and girls in grades 4-8 paid $35 for a week of instruction from Varsity coaches and Varsity athletes.
