Rich McGuire of Wantagh, a 1998 graduate of MacArthur High School was selected to the Collegiate Baseball N.C.A.A. Division 1 All-American Team. McGuire, as a sophomore, led the University of Delaware to the America East Championship and a berth in the N.C.A.A. playoffs in Oklahoma City.
As the Ace of the Delaware Staff, he compiled a record of nine wins, two losses and 3.52 ERA. McGuire was named the American East Pitcher of the Year where he led the America East Conference in wins, strikeouts, complete games, ERA and innings pitched. He was also named to Baseball America's All-America East Team and first team East Coast Athletic Conference. Baseball Weekly named Rich McGuire as one of the top pitching prospects in the East for next year's professional baseball draft.
McGuire played for MacArthur High School Varsity Baseball Team for four years, where he was a three-time All-County, All-State and League MVP. He led the Generals to three Conference titles. He will be playing summer baseball for the Torrington Connecticut Twisters of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
