On Monday June 5th, Shawn Fagan a 1996 graduate of Division Avenue High School was drafted in the 13th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Fagan has just completed his senior year at Penn State where he was selected to the all big ten team for the third straight year. Fagan also was ranked 11th in the nation in RBI's per game for Division I baseball.
This year's Penn State team won the Eastern Regional beating Army, Rutgers, and North Carolina twice. After winning this tournament Fagan, and the Nittany Lions, went to the Super Regional in Austin, Texas to play the Texas Long Horns where they dropped two games just narrowly missing the college world series.
Fagan was a four time all-county player, the only player in the history of Long Island baseball to make all-county four times. Fagan led the division Blue Dragons to the State Championship Game in 1995 only to lose to Corning East. As a senior in 1996, Fagan led the Dragons back to the State Championship Game to win the title. He was selected as the most valuable player of both the Nassau County Tournament and the State Tournament.
