The Division Varsity Baseball team opened up its series with the Bellmore Kennedy Cougars with a 19-3 victory. Junior pitcher Phil Stumphf pitched a dominant six innings. Stumphf allowed 5 hits, with four of them coming in one inning. With the exception of that inning Stumphf was in total control, striking out six batters, while walking only two. Colin Schmaeling came in and finished with a strong inning of tube up work.

The Division offense was led by senior Kevin Schneider and sophomore Jeff Tamaraz who both blasted two-run homers to put the Dragons on top by a score of 4-3. After going down 3-2, Division scored 16 unanswered runs. Junior PJ Antoniato sparkled defensively at short as Division turned over its eighth double play of the year, more than they had all last year. Antoniato was also a big hit at the plate as he banged out four hits with six RBIs. Junior Mike Hublitz chipped in with three hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Greg Jenkins, Dan Cronin, and Eric Fierro all added two RBIs.

In game two, Division won again, this time by a score of 9-1. Antoniato was the winning pitcher striking out nine while allowing only one walk. The Division offense was led by Steve Juliano, who scored one run and knocked in four others. Other big hitters for Division were Antoniato and Eric Fierro, who both had two hits. Mike Hublitz added a big double with three stolen bases.

The Dragons completed a sweep of the series with their 13-3 victory in game three. Juliano, Colin Schmaeling and Josh Flinn combined for the victory. Sophomore Flinn finished the game with three Ks against all three batters that he faced. Offensively, the Dragons were led by Fierro who had three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Stumphf had a pinch hit double and sophomore Keith Feldman had a line drive double in his first varsity at bat. Sophomore Tamaraz also had two hits for Division.

Next week the Dragons will complete its regular season with a three game series against Floral Park on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All three games will be played at Division since Floral Park's field is under construction. All games will have a 4:45 p.m. start. The playoffs will begin next Saturday.
