The MacArthur General's varsity baseball season opened against Hewlett. The Generals faced excellent pitching but managed to sweep the three game series.

In game one, Brent Savin pitched three-hit ball for the Generals. Behind Brent's nine strikeout performance, the Generals coasted to a 7-0 victory. The win was ensured in the fifth inning when Andrew Johnson hit a bases loaded clearing triple. Savin also contributed an RBI triple.

In game two, Justin Anderson pitched a complete game for a 6-1 victory. He struck out nine and was never in any real trouble. Johnson went 2 for 3 with one RBI. Anderson helped himself by reaching base twice and scoring two runs.

Jason McCorey was in control from the beginning in game three of the series. McCorey struck out 10 batters in a 3-0 victory. Lead-off hitter Jim O'Leary had two hits and scored one run. Number two hitter Sean O'Donnell had a base hit, four stolen bases and scored two runs.
