The Island Trees Lady Bulldogs put together a very impressive season. Their overall record was 17-5. They made it all the way to the Nassau County Class B Finals. It was a season to remember and be proud of.

Lisa Macchia, a 6'3' center and Lisa Smith. a 5'11" forward, presented problems for many teams. It was extremely difficult to match up against them. Cathy Sbarra, a junior point guard, was another solid player who presented a problem for our opponents.

The goal for the playoffs was to make it past the first round and then take it game by game. In the first round, 5th seeded Island Trees beat number 12 seeded Jericho. Macchia scored 23 points to lead Island Trees to victory. Other contributors were Lisa Smith with 15, Jessica Fredricks with 12, Sbarra with 10, Kate Sciacca and Ashley Tonno with 4, Lauren Foster with 3 and Christina O'Brien and Meghan Voss with 2. Other girls who played extremely hard for Island Trees were Tara Berman, Kelly Huldie, Michelle McGowan and Tricia DelMonaco. It was a great win and it brought Island Trees into the second round of the playoffs.

Island Trees now faced the number 4 seed, Sewanhaka. Once again Island Trees came out victorious with a final score of 54-43. Macchia and Smith dominated on the inside, scoring 20 points each and grabbing a total of 30 rebounds. Island Trees was too much for Sewanhaka and IT advanced to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Island Trees faced the number one seeded Garden City. It was a game to remember. Macchia had an incredible 23 points, 15 rebounds and 13 blocked shots. Island Trees played very aggressively on defense. They made it difficult for Garden City to get open shots. When they did, Lisa and Lisa were there to grab rebounds. Island Trees' outside shooting was big in this game. Island Trees scored three three pointers; two by Sciacca and one by Berman. From the foul line, Sbarra went 3 for 4 and Fredricks went 2 for 2 late in the game to help seal the win. Island Trees was on their way to the finals to face New Hyde Park.

Island Trees finished off their last game at Hofstra Arena in front of 1,000 fans. Although Island Trees did not capture the championship, it was a season to remember and be proud of. The girls would like to thank all the fans who supported them throughout the year. They are all looking forward to next season.
