Anita Sauer

Anita Sauer is MacArthur HS choice for the Athletic Spotlight this week.

With the winter sports season closed out for another year, Sauer takes the two weeks between seasons off and readies herself for the start of another spring season where she will be competing on MacArthur's Badminton Team for the fourth year in a row. Sauer is an active athlete all year long competing on three varsity teams, a feat that is becoming a rarity these days.

Since the tenth grade, Sauer has been running on the Cross Country Team in the fall season, goes right into the winter track season where she was the captain of the Distance Team in the ninth grade, and then finishes out the year by competing on the Badminton Team.

Three varsity teams for three years, and keeping up with school work and extra curricular activities would be enough for most students but student athletes such as Anita always seem to be able to make the time to do that little extra, such as being a member of the Key Club, playing in the orchestra, and participating in the science Olympiad.

Sauer's teammates apparently recognized her dedication and work ethic because they paid Anita the ultimate compliment by electing her captain of the Cross Country Team and the Winter Track Team.

As the spring sports season gets started, Sauer will be looking to help lead the Badminton Team to the playoffs and possibly a conference championship. The conference championship would be a fitting ending to the satisfying and successful athletic career that Sauer has enjoyed at MacArthur HS.

Sauer is just as competitive in the classroom as attested by the 91 average that she has and the 1190 that she scored on her SATs.

MacArthur wishes Sauer well next year when she will take her skills to the next level in college and with the same drive and determination will have the same kind of success that she enjoyed during her years at MacArthur.

Sauer will do well at whatever she tries to do in college and the school wishes her all the luck that she so well deserves.
