Recently, lifelong Levittowners Adolphus "Dolph" Queripel and Larry Quinn were inducted into the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame. Founded in 1986, the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation, a member chapter of the National Lacrosse Foundation, has emerged as a leader in the promotion of lacrosse at all levels in the New York Metropolitan area. The foundation recently voted to induct two Levittowners, Larry Quinn and Dolph Queripel into its Hall of Fame.
Larry Quinn, son of John and Mercedes Quinn, and brother of District Court Judge Christopher Quinn, rose to prominence in the lacrosse world as he became one of the best, if not the best, goalie Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has ever seen. While at Johns Hopkins, Quinn led his team to several national victories. While Larry resides in the Baltimore area with his family, his parents still reside in Levittown. Quinn is a graduate of the Levittown Memorial High School.
Dolph Queripel, one of Levittown's original owners, holds a warm place in the hearts of many Levittowners whose children have benefited from his vast experience, sensitivity and caring, not only in lacrosse but in football as well. Along with Levittowners Norm Murray and Bill Mueller, who founded the Levittown Youth Lacrosse League, Queripel has continued to serve as a coach and director for the past 30 years. Queripel was also part of that same pioneering group which founded the Levittown Red Devils Football League in 1952 as well.
Both Levittowners were recently inducted into the lacrosse hall of fame ceremonies which were conducted by Master of Ceremonies Norm Murray who sits on the Lacrosse Foundation as well. "Both inductees have brought honor and recognition to the Levittown community and I am proud to have shared the moment with these two fine men and their families. Their induction into the hall of fame is an honor both men so richly deserve," said Assemblywoman Kate Murray, a lifelong neighbor of both gentlemen.
