The Girls Eighth-Grade Basketball Team opened up its 2000 season with a spectacular win over Plainview by a 30-27 count. Alyssa Fleming did her best imitation of Supergirl as she flew all over the court scoring 14 and playing smothering defense. Lisa LoFaso scored eight while controlling the boards at both ends. Jessica Galella added four, while Angela Barea and Lisa Provenzano added a basket. LoFaso still has the battle scars to show how tough the Bulldog defense was. Playing tenacious D were Kaitlin Schamberger, Rachael LoGatto, Keri Spiess, Jackie Mullervy, Nikka Pena, Gina Lippert, Stephanie Farag, Mary Seremeta, Shannon McAdam, Danielle Baglivo, Kate Ludewig and Michelle Llorente. If this is any indication as to how tough this team can be, this should prove to be a very exciting year. Great effort Lady Dawgs!
The Seventh-Grade Basketball Team played a fantastic game against Mattlin. Although the girls were not able to gain the win, they did a wonderful job. Jackie Augner had six points and did a great job of moving off the ball. Brittany Faherty also had six points and did a nice job lending a hand on defense. Grace Vinberg added five points and some great moves. Gina Dziuba added three points. Megan Carlson had two points and Michelle McGurk added a foul shot. Nathaly Estrada, Samantha Burger, Nicole Carrazana, Lauren O'Shea, Jamie Lent, Hillary Sciacca, Jessica Ostrowski, Lori Brennan, Heather McCarthy and Kate Beale, all contributed to the game with rebounds and impressive defense. Great job girls! Special thanks to Christian, Vinny, Maria, Brittany and Rosie.
