Christina McCabe
|
Christina McCabe, a senior at MacArthur and a member of the Levittown District track team is MacArthur's choice for the Athletic Spotlight.
McCabe has been a member of the winter track team since 10th grade, the cross country team since 10th grade and the spring track team since 9th grade. it is very unusual to find athletes willing to make the commitment to participate in three sports during the course of the school year but McCabe is one of those few.
Last year McCabe was paid the ultimate compliment by being elected captain of both the cross country and the winter tack team and this year it will be a clean sweep because her teammates elected her captain of the spring track team. A three sport varsity letter athlete and captain of three varsity teams in which McCabe was elected by her teammates. This shows what her teammates think of her. Being elected captain of a varsity team is an honor because it shows an athlete that they have leadership qualities, commitment and dedication to their sport and they are looked up to by their peers.
McCabe runs the 1,000 meters and the mile for the winter track team; she has been consistently playing in the mile and took a fourth place in the friendship games.
As with all of MacArthur's spotlight athletes, McCabe not only excels in athletics, but academics and extra curricular activities also play a large role in McCabe's daily life at MacArthur. Drama, mathletes, Spanish Club, volunteer in after school programs when time permits and helping out in numerous ways during the school day are just a few of the things that help to keep McCabe busy.
Academically, McCabe has a 102.4 average, ranks 5th in a class of 247 and scored a combined 1180 on her SAT's.
The future looks bright for this exceptional senior. McCabe has made the most of her high school career, she has been a role model for younger students and certainly one student who will be sorely missed next year.

Jessica Zagajeski, Carito, Colleen Sullivan and Michelle Davis.

This season the Division Ave. High School Girls Varsity Basketball team has compiled a record of 7-3. The fast start for the Blue Dragons is due in large part to the combined efforts of a dedicated group of seniors, Michelle Davis, Colleen Sullivan, Carri To and Jessica Zagajeski.
Michelle Davis is a four year varsity player for the Lady Dragons. She is second on the all-time Lady Dragon scoring list behind only her good friend Noreen Duffy. Davis is closing in on 750 points and should attain that goal within the next few weeks. Davis was also an all-county selection last year as a junior and an all-conference player as a sophomore. Davis is also an all-conference volleyball player and an all-county softball player. Davis has a 96 percent grade point average and is a member of the honor society and the student council. Davis has had numerous offers from colleges to play softball and she is currently considering C.W. Post and Queens College.
Colleen Sullivan has been a three-year member of the varsity squad and is currently the second leading rebounder of all-time for the Lady Dragons behind Michelle Sorise. Sullivan is an all-division basketball player, an all-conference softball player and an all-county softball player. She was also a member of this Empire State Team and was named all-state in soccer. She has a 92 percent grade point average and a 1200 SAT score. She is a member of the Key Club, Model Congress and the student council. She is currently considering Fordham University, Manhattan College and Albany.
Carri To has been a three-year member of the varsity program and currently holds the all-time record for attendance and dedication. To has never missed a practice or a game in her entire high school career. To is a senior starter for the team and also is a varsity soccer and softball player. To is also able to keep very busy in school, sporting a 95 percent grade point average and being a senior class vice president. She is also the president of the Key Club and a member of the Student Council and the Honor Society. To is considering attending Towsen, Marist or Geneseo.
Jessica Zagajeski is the newest member of the team. Zagajeski moved to Levittown last February from Maspeth, Queens and has added the defensive spark that may be enough to put the Lady Dragons into the playoffs. She was a member of the prestigious Christ the King Basketball program and has turned that savvy into the leader in team steals this year for the Lady Dragons. Zagajeski has an 88 percent grade point average and plans to attend Nassau Community College next year.
With the high caliber of senior girls the Lady Dragons look for good things to come in the future as the senior legacy is passed to the underclassmen.
