Another Change for Town of Hempstead
The United States Supreme Court announced on Monday that they would not hear the Town of Hempstead's appeal of the Federal and Circuit Courts' decisions which said that the Town's at-large voting system was racially discriminatory and ordered that the municipality be divided into six councilmanic districts, one district being made up primarily of minorities.

Red Devils Celebrate 48 Years at Football Awards Dinner
The Red Devil Football League Held its 48th Annual Awards Dinner last week, celebrating the accomplishments of not only the league but of the individual members within the league. Over 100 awards were distributed to members of the football teams and cheerleading squads at the dinner which was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club.

MacArthur Sweeps Wrestling Tournament
MacArthur High School Wrestling team competed in the St. Anthony's Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 22. It was a five team tournament that put team against team. MacArthur went undefeated, beating each of the other four teams. Besides St. Anthony's and MacArthur, Sachem, Wallkill (upstate) and Staten Island were there. Nick Laviano was named team MVP of the tournament. MacArthur High School is one of the top five wrestling teams in Nassau County. The dual meet team championships will start on Feb. 8 and finish on Feb. 12.

Levittown Runners Invited to 3rd Annual Kings Park 15K Run
Runners from Levittown are invited to test themselves in the third edition of the Kings Park 15 Kilometer Run, to be held on Sunday, March 19. The entire proceeds of the run will be dedicated to the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation. The starting gun will go off at 9:15 a.m. at the W. T. Rogers Middle School on Old Dock Road in Kings Park.
