Travis Chrisholm, a junior at Division Avenue HS, recently began his third season as a Dragon wrestler and team captain. Over the past three seasons, Chrisholm has made great improvements in his technique as a wrestler and has become a major asset to the team. He ended his sophomore year as league champion and is determined to improve his achievements from last year in the county tournament at the end of this year's season. To date, he has a 2 and 1 record with a second place finish which he earned at the MacArthur tournament. Chrisholm also enjoys environmental studies with other outdoor activities.

Bill Stubbs is MacArthur High School's choice for Athletic Spotlight.

Stubbs will be a three sport athlete by the time he completes his senior year at MacArthur in June of this year.

John Avena, the Cross County, and Track Coach for the Levittown School District describes Stubbs as a very dedicated, hard working athlete who is willing to make a commitment to being a very successful varsity athlete. Over the last five years, Coach Avena has been building up the district track program into a legitimate contender. Taking a varsity program from nothing and making it competitive is not possible without having runners like Bill Stubbs.

Currently, Stubbs is running on the 4 x 800 Relay Team and this Relay Team has qualified for the County Championships. Stubbs also runs the mile and is looking to break the school record before this winter season ends and just for a warm-up he runs the 660.

Stubbs is a key man to the success of this district track team and with his dedication, hard work and leadership he is setting a great example for others to join this growing sport in Levittown and contribute to its success.

In the spring season, Stubbs changes pace a bit and brings his skills to the volleyball court where he was an All Conference player as an 11th grader and has his sights set on being named to the All-County team this year.

Being elected captain of the volleyball team, cross country and the winter track teams tells you what Stubbs' teammates think of him. As impressive as being elected captain of three different teams is, Stubbs' accomplishments outside of athletics are just as impressive.

Academically, Stubbs has a 99.6 average, scored a total of 1320 on his SAT's and ranks 18th in a class of 247. He is a Renaissance Gold card holder; he competes in math and physics competitions, is a member of the marching band; he tutors students in need of extra help; he is a latch key volunteer and is involved in various community services from community clean up committees to food drives. Bill Stubbs is one who does it all; he is obviously one of MacArthur's best, a genuine "Blue Chip" student who will be on his way to a very successful career in whatever he chooses to do.

MacArthur congratulates him on being chosen for the Athletic Spotlight and wishes him well next year.
