On Nov. 2, of this year, you entrusted me by voting me as the first democrat elected to the Town of Hempstead Council since 1905.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. This election was not about "me," it was, and is about "us." This election was a team effort. It was about people, black, white, yellow, red, and tan, in color, united to fight the system that has prevailed in Nassau County for 90 to 100 years. It is the beginning of being "Free at Last."
On Jan. 3, 2000, Rita Kastenbaum, Scott Banks, and I will be sworn in as council persons, for the next four years. We communicate and cooperate extremely well, and will continue to do so, once we establish our offices at Town Hall. We intend to keep our promises of "an open door policy," and will hold town and civic club meetings. Your concerns are our priority, and we will persist in bringing change.
Again, I and my fellow councilpersons elect, thank you for your trust and support.
