Island Trees Sports
The eighth grade boys basketball team opened up their season against a very talented team from Salk. Although the Bulldogs were at a disadvantage when it came to size, the boys played with tremendous heart. The Dawgs fell behind early and trailed by 10 at the half. The third period started out in much the same fashion until Anthony DiDomenico exploded with eight of his game high 20 points. Kevin Fusci, who would finish with 12, added six points and the Bulldogs, who trailed 24-10, evened the score at the end of the third period at 28 apiece. The fourth period was not so kind to the Dawgs, but they did outscore Salk 16-12 in the fifth. Final score was 59-44 in favor of Salk. Bruce Davidson scored four, Anthony Thompson added three, Kevin McGovern and Peter Plaia added two each, while Michael Doscher popped in one from the foul line. Justin O'Donnell and George Fotedis pulled down key rebounds. Keep working hard boys.
