The Division Avenue High School Athletic Department and baseball coaching staff have announced that Dan Cronin, a Division senior has just signed a national letter of intent to play for St. John's University next baseball season.
Cronin mulled over a number of scholarship offers - from C.W. Post, N.Y. Tech, and Stony Brook University, before he decided to accept the St. John's offer.
Head Coach Ed Blankmeyer loved Cronin's athleticism, as well as the fact that Cronin is such a versatile player. Blankmeyer said that they intended to use Cronin as a pitcher, first baseman, outfielder, and a designated hitter. Last season Cronin was selected to the All-County baseball team as well as being selected to the 2nd team All-State. Last winter Cronin was also selected to the Nassau County Basketball team.
Another thing the St. John's coaching staff loved about Cronin is that he is just as good in the classroom as he is on the baseball diamond. Cronin will bring his three year 90+ classroom average with him to St. John's.
With Cronin signing this year, Division now has 28 straight years where at least one of its players has been offered a baseball scholarship.
