Although White had clinched first place last week, they wanted to win their final game to go into the playoffs on a winning note. White faced off against West Babylon at home in their regular season finale. They wasted no time in scoring on an end run by Dominique Alexander on their first possession. West Babylon fumbled the ball on their first possession and White scored again before the first quarter was halfway done.

The defense was tenacious as usual and shut down Babylon's offense. Anthony Wrightington, Mike Cook, Andrew McKiel, Ryan Butz, Kyle Perkins, Nicholas Ferrara, Patrick Higgins, Tyler Rosenkranz, Dylan Muller, Eddie Valesquez and Ryan Bogdanwicz were brilliant on defense, forcing numerous turnovers. This gave White the ball a third time and their offense answered the call.

The third time White had the ball they scored again on a superb off tackle run by David Williams. With Ferrara making two out of three extra points White led 22-0. The offensive line was led by Nicholas Thomas, J.J. Castrianni, Kevin McKenna, Brendan Gay, Tom Kowalski, Sean Brophy, Williams and Muller.

Up by 22 points, White was forced to remove four of the team's key players. It didn't make a difference. With several players filling in at positions they were unfamiliar with they still held West Babylon scoreless.

This is what the team is all about- each player giving his all even when out of position for the good of the team, picking each other up when asked to. Good luck to White in the playoffs.

Pee Wee Gold hosted undefeated North Babylon on Sunday and lost a tough game 40-20.

Down 22-0 at halftime, Pee Wee Gold showed what they're made of and came back to score on their first possession of the second half. Behind great blocking by Ryan Braithwaite, Chris Celentani, John Kreppel, Steven Krajci, Michael DiGregorio, Eddie Richards and Thomas Schreiber, Anthony Villa ran for a touchdown, bringing the score to 22-6. For the remainder of the game, the scoring went back and forth with North Babylon scoring three times and Gold scoring twice. Both of Gold's touchdowns came when Matt McBride broke tackles and ran the ball in. John Kreppel scored both extra points, making the final score 40-20.

The defense, including Kreppel, Braithwaite, Celentani, James Lang, James DiMartino, Nicky DiGregorio, Cameo Flores, Cordell Tompkin and Ryan Verhagen hung tough but were unable to stop North Babylon.

"I am so proud of this team and they should all be very proud of themselves. They gave 100 percent throughout the season and never gave up," said Head Coach Ray Lang. The coaching staff would like to thank the boys and their parents for a great season.

Midget Gray defeated Deer Park Sunday, 26-0. Gray's offense, including Jimmy Ward, Matthew Burmeister, Paul Altaro, David Cote, Joe Mormando, Dennis Lawrence, Brett Tom, C.J. Reilly and Danny Harris took control early in the first quarter when a great run by Michael Cheshire set up a touchdown by Chris Brumber, making the score 6-0.

Gray struck again in the second quarter with a 22 yard pass reception by Mormando, followed by a 32 yard run by Jack Lang that placed the ball on the 2 yard line. Gray scored on the next play with a quarterback sneak by Tommy Celentani, bringing the score to 12-0. On Gray's next possession, Quarterback Lang threw a 31 yard pass to Ronnie Modik, who ran the ball in for Gray's third touchdown. Celentani scored the extra point, making the score 19-0. Due to the 18 point rule, Burmeister, Celentani, Brumber, and Modik were pulled from the game.

Gray's defense, led by Michael Cheshire, David Cote, Danny Dowd, Joe Labruyere, Frank Golino, Jimmy Ward and Rich Romano totally dominated the first half, holding Deer Park scoreless, making the score 19-0 at the half.

In the third quarter Gray was able to score again when Scott Neal ran the ball in for a touchdown. Brett Tom scored the extra point, bringing the score to 26-0. Gray's defense continued to dominate the game and shut out Deer Park with a final score of 26-0.

Special mention goes to David Cote for outstanding linework and to Joe Labruyere for great tackling.

On Sunday, Pee Wee Gray traveled to West Islip to close out the 1999 season. Gray met another tough opponent in West Islip but Gray went ready to play. On Gray's opening drive they used a starting back field of quarterback Daniel Bartlett and running backs Bryan Verbitsky, Brian Herold and Anthony Ciaramitaro. With excellent blocking from the offensive line which rotated the following players in and out of the game- Nick Defranco, Christopher Maierle, Ronnie Cardno, Rob Castillo, Bryan Peterson, Chris Nickel, Jack Garren, Thomas Rhodes and Kyle Kriner, Gray was able to use runs from running backs Verbitsky, Herold, and Ciaramitaro to drive down West Islip's 11 yard line. Facing a third and 5 from the 11 yard line, Gray needed a big play to keep the drive going. With that, Gray used a reverse, giving the ball to Verbitsky who ran it in foran 11 yard touchdown run. Defranco came on to kick the extra point to make it 8-0. West Islip did not give up easily. On their next possession they were able to drive down the field and score a touchdown but missed the extra point. With Gray leading 8-6 they knew they would have to mount some more offense if they wanted to leave West Islip with this win. On Gray's final possession of the first half they mounted another successful ball controlled attack. Again with Bartlett (who also played strong on the D-line and Linebacker) at quarterback using key runs from Verbitsky, Herold, and Ciaramitaro, Gray drove down to West Islip's 18 yard line. Sensing they really needed to score at the point, they again gave the ball to Verbitsky who broke off an end run for an 18 yard touchdown as time ran out in the first half giving Gray a 14-6 halftime lead.

Like they have all season, Gray's tough defense stepped it up a notch in the second half. Using a combination of players from the offensive line, along with Bartlett, Ryan Breck, Javid Hyder, Timmy Michels, Henry Savit and Brandon Gamblin to solidify the defensive line, West Islip was unable to get any type of inside running game going. Not to be overlooked was the outstanding play of the defensive ends Ciaramitaro and Gamblin along with outside linebackers George Athan and Rob Castillo, middle linebacker Verbitsky and Safties Joey Cuccaro and Ronnie Cardno who completely shut down West Islip's outside running game.

A key defensive play in the second half was a fumble recovery by Timmy Michels early in the fourth quarter to end a West Islip drive and a sack by Gamblin of West Islip quarterback with 10 seconds to g oin the game virtually sealing the victory.

The coaching staff would like to commend all the players on Pee Wee Gray for making it a wonderful season. The team's hard work and dedication was appreciated.
