Allison Gersten, senior playmaker on the Girls Varsity Soccer team was chosen for the MacArthur High School Athletic Spotlight for the week of Oct. 18.
Gersten is the starting outside midfielder for the Lady Generals soccer team and is their number one playmaker this year. The Lady Generals have one major goal that they are pursuing and that goal is to make the playoffs. Coach Mike Clarke says that Gersten is one of the Lady Generals key players who sets up her teammates to score goals. This makes it very obvious that Gersten is a true team player, who realizes that the only important thing is to win games and that setting up teammates to score is just as important as scoring the goal itself. As the Lady Generals make their final run for the playoffs it is a sure bet that Gersten will be playing an important role and she will have a positive impact on how the team does.
In the spring, Gersten brings the same intensity to the lacrosse field where she also starts as a midfielder.
Outside of athletics, Gersten gets involved with helping the Summit Lane Special Ed students. She is involved in collecting toys for sick and needy children and next year she wants to major in speech pathology with Ithaca, Loyola, or Towson State.
Gersten also does very well in the classroom and holds a 96 average. With her combination of athletics, academics and competitive sirit, Gersten will do well wherever she chooses to go. She has been a great asset to MacArthur High School and they know she will have a great senior year and wish her well in her bright future.
