Pee Wee Gold defeated the Seaford Broncos on Sunday, 6-0.
In a defensive battle, Gold was able to score late in the second quarter. Behind a strong offensive line, including Eddie Richards, Stephen Krajci, Mike DiGregorio, Chris Celentani, John Kreppel, Ryan Braithwaite and James DiMartino, Matt McBride had a great run to set up a touchdown by Thomas Schreiber, who dove into the end zone to score.
Gold got its first shut out, when the defense, led by Kreppel, Celentani, Braithwaite, James Lang, Krajci, Anthony Villa, Cordell Tomkin, Cameo Flores, Nick DiGregorio and Ryan Verhagen dominated the second half.
Special mention goes to Verhagen for excellent defensive play and to Flores and Tomkin for outstanding effort throughout the game.
Pee Wee White traveled to Brentwood this past Sunday to try and bring their record to 5-1. It was a game in which Pee Wee White would show their true character.
The game started off with both teams feeling each other out. White's defense was as stingy as usual, forcing Brentwood to give the ball up on downs on several occasions. Brentwood's defense was just as tough and would not allow White's offense to advance the ball. It looked like it would be a scoreless first half, when Brentwood broke loose on an end run to go up with a score of 6-0. The extra point was missed and that's the way the first half ended. Levittown's coaches made some adjustments at halftime, knowing that Brentwood would be tough to score on.
With key blocking assignments on the offensive line changed, Pee Wee White began to move the ball. The offensive line, led by Dylan Muller, Tom Kowalski, Nicholas Thomas, JJ Castrianni, David Williams, Kevin McKenna, Sean Brophy and Brendan Gay began to open holes for the running backs Dominique Alexander and Nick Ferrara. Kyle Perkins was given the assignment of closing down Brentwood's ends and that's just what he did. On first and goal from the 6 yard line, Brentwood got tough and held tight, but a boot leg on fourth and goal by Anthony Wrightington reached pay dirt and the game was tied. Ferrara kicked the extra point and White took the lead, 8-6.
It was now up to the defense, led by Perkins. Andrew McKiel, Mike Cook, Ryan Butz, Tyler Rosenkranz, Patrick Higgins and Ryan Bogdanowicz to hold Brentwood from scoring. Excellent tackling by Butz, McKiel, Dylan Muller, and Alexander caused Brentwood to give up the ball with two minutes remaining and White's offense could now run the clock. On 1st and 10 from their own 15 yard line, White gave the ball to their most sure-handed runner, Alexander. Running out the clock was not on Alexander's mind as he burst off tackle for an 85 yard touchdown run which iced the game. The extra point was good and White walked away with a 16-6 victory.
Pee Wee White is now 5-1 but they showed true character in coming from behind to win. Super job White.
